With Bentley's 100th anniversary scheduled for next year, the Mulliner division is celebrating its founder with a special edition Mulsanne. It pays homage to the company's founding father, W.O. Bentley and even has a portion of one of his personal cars.
The special model, which can be ordered on a regular or long-wheelbase Mulsanne or Mulsanne Speed, was inspired by the 1930 8 Litre Bentley that W.O. was using as his personal vehicle. The influence of this car can be seen in the interior. For instance the Mulliner illuminated bar cabinet has the display of a piece of the 8 Litre crankshaft that is displayed inside.
W.O. is emblazoned in a B-shaped photoetched air vent on the chrome application that runs along the back side of the vehicle. The front grille is designed after 1930s-appropriate Onyx, and there's an additional chrome finish around the lower spoilers on the left and right. The front grille also features distinctive design, with chrome-colored shells replacing the body-colored mesh of Mulsanne. It also features the Flying B Logo.
A key box engraved with the Bentley wings can hold two keys, and comes with a black flock lining. key pouches can be purchased to complement or contrast with the key box. The metal-to-metal knurling on this key fob is reminiscent of the textures that are found in the interior of the car, such as the controls for temperature of the seat and the shift knob. Van Braekel says, "We wanted the knurling to look as consistent and elegant" as is possible. It was crucial to keep the dimensions and shape of the fob in line with the same shape and size.
Bentley Mulliner customers can specify any color in the Bentley portfolio for their Bacalar as well as any combination of hides, veneers and bespoke embroidery. Bentley's signature diamond in diamond quilting is applied across the entire cabin, with around 400,000 stitches. The mood lighting can also be altered to suit different moods.
The standard exterior features illuminated treadplates, brushed silver clocks, and new 22in wheels with self-leveling Bentley logos. Customers can also choose a custom Bentley logo laser-etched onto the rear fixing to pay homage to the 1930 8 Litre W.O. Edition that was the inspiration for the car. The Bentley Wing Key Pouches
